Jonathan Dushoff on the net
Welcome Jonathan Dushoff to the world of online-science micro-publishing, via Twitter: @jd_mathbio.
Jonathan is the head of the lab that I belong to. WorkingWiki began as his vision, before I signed on to write it. He's supported me living far away and working independently, supported developing our funded projects on public health and social norms into a study of basic models for abrupt change in social norms, and supported my consensus dynamics project, which was originally not a part of the public health project at all. Jonathan is an exceptionally gifted mathematician with a keen sense of the real-world meaning and social implications of the work.
I advised Jonathan to establish an online presence by putting interesting things on our wikis and then posting them to twitter. This is different from how I'm doing it - putting things on the wikis, posting them here on this custom-made website with two RSS feeds, and then posting items from here to the various social networks - because I'm not sure the hassle of running a drupal or wordpress website is necessarily worth it and the RSS-to-social-networks flow doesn't work all that well. I figured Twitter is where a large amount of the target audience is, it's a simple and manageable initial approach, and he can always add other channels of communication in the future. I'll be interested to see whether he ends up agreeing.
